Promega Mitochondrial ToxGlo Assay

Source date not recordedAnalyse record ↗

For research use only and not for diagnostic procedures. This is a compound-screening toxicity assay; it does not directly measure mitophagy, respiratory-chain flux, mitochondrial DNA integrity, or patient mitochondrial function. Kind
Mitochondrial-dysfunction research assay
Type of test
Multiplex fluorescent membrane-integrity and luminescent ATP cell assay
Sample
Cultured cells exposed to test compounds in multiwell plates
Provider
Promega
How to get
Order catalog G8000 or G8001 from Promega; a multimode plate reader capable of fluorescence and luminescence measurements is required.
Details
Sequential reagent addition first measures extracellular dead-cell protease activity as membrane-integrity fluorescence and then cellular ATP by luminescence. Comparing ATP loss with membrane integrity after short xenobiotic exposure helps distinguish primary mitochondrial dysfunction from secondary cytotoxicity.
